Healthy, environmentally friendly holidays for the whole family.

Taking in all of the visible white horses in Wiltshire (and including Uffington just over the border in Oxfordshire) and some of the sites where horses were known to have been, this tour is a more challenging route that will excite the slightly more experienced cyclist.

This is a Tour that we have graded 2/3 (see Our Tours page for what this means). With the white horses being carved in to the Wiltshire hillsides there is some climbing to be done. Most of the hills on the route lead to a white horse so there is a chance to take a breather at the tops and admire the scenery. One of the horses is situated on the side of Milk Hill, which featured on BBC’s Countryfile on August 23rd 2009 as it was confirmed to be the highest point in Wiltshire.

Not only will you visit all of the Wiltshire white horses (and of course a couple of pubs by that name) you will get a chance to take in the World Heritage site of the ancient stone circles at Avebury, the Caen Hill lock system at Devizes and the market town of Marlborough.

The Caen Hill Locks comprise a system of 29 locks on the Kennet & Avon Canal. You'll be able to navigate the system quite a bit quicker on the tow path than the boats can (5-6 hours!).

There is a museum at the Avebury stone circle and the village is worth a walk around with its assortment of old buildings.

The total distance is about 146 miles over the 6 days at an average of just over 24 miles per day. The longest day is 30 miles and the shortest is 17.5 miles
